Hello guys

Insects do not have vocal chords as we do. But many insects all over the world have learned how to ‘sing’. If you go out into the countryside on a warm evening as the sun goes down, you will probably hear thousands of insects.

Most of these are grasshoppers which make this song-like sound by rubbing the joints of their hind legs against the ribs of their forewings. Each species produces special notes which can be recognized in the same way as birdsong.

Many insects sing for the same reason that birds do, to establish their territories and to attract a mate.
